The Thermal Generator is a GregTech machine, being an upgrade to the Geothermal Generator. Much like the Geothermal Generator, it produces energy when fueled by Lava. It produces 30,000 EU for every 1,000 mB (one bucket, can or capsule) of lava that it is given, while the Geothermal Generator will only produce 20,000 EU. It should be noted that it is more efficient to use Magmatic Engines and the Power Converters mod, which will produce ~42,000 EU for every bucket of lava. It can store up to 1,000,000 EU in its internal buffer and has a max output of 24 EU/t. Thus, the Thermal Generator is 50% more efficient in power generation and 20% more efficient in power output rate than a Geothermal Generator. The Thermal Generator also has an output slot to return Empty Cells, and Cans instead of consuming them entirely as a Geothermal Generator would.

The Thermal Generator has an internal storage of 10,000 mB (10 buckets, capsules or cans) for lava. However, it will only utilize all 10,000 mB of its storage if lava is pumped in via usage of Liquiducts or Fluid Pipes. If the Thermal Generator is being given lava via cans, capsules or buckets in its internal GUI, it will use one bucket, can or capsule of lava, then wait until its internal storage is empty until consuming another one, thus only utilizing 1,000 mB of its storage capacity.
